    SEO Tips

Croan.ie have developed a lot of pages on this site which include some excellent tips for things to consider when carrying out SEO on your site. Remember that SEO of your website for search results involvesd a little bit of art as well as the science.
The science part of SEO involves interpreting previous results to determine which part of the Search Engine's algorithm we can have an effect on and then applying the lessons learned to website pages and code.
The "art" portion of SEO involves the development of meaningful content for the website which is useful to both Human searchers and the Search Engine crawlers.

As search engine algorithms change constantly the SEO expert has to continuously evaluate results and reapply their techniques to a website. At Croan.ie we have almost 50 test sites which we use to determine the success factors for optimising our client sites for Google, Yahoo and MSN. We have pulled some of our experience together from that work and listed it in the SEO tips below.

All SEO begins with Keyword Research

Keyword research is the process of understanding what search terms or phrases your potential customers might use to find you. This might seem obvious but this is where we see most DIY SEO experts make their biggest mistakes.
All too often people focus on terms that they, as experts in their field use to describe their products but which their client sdo not understand or use at all!
You must use key terms which people search for and focus on terms which you can rank highly for.

Another mistake some people make when carrying out SEO or when optimising their site is in selecting the name of their business as a keyword or term to optimise for. This is a waste of effort. If someone already knows who you are then they will find you! What you want to do is to rank highly for key terms related to your business or product - this will help you capture business from people who do not know wabout your company yet!

Do-it-Yourself or Hire an SEO Pro?

An experienced search engine optimisation firm will get you results but only you can determine the balance between the cost of their services and the value of those reults. It makes no sense to pay hundreds or thousands of Euro to see great results and increase your site sales by 25 Euro!.

Working yourself to improve your site's search engine rankings will save you money but if you do not break onto page 1 for really valuable key terms or if you focus on the wrong terms then you will not make any money either!
If you do decide to go the DIY route then there are a number of tried and trsuted SEO tips which you should take on board and apply to your website.
    .
